Rang–Frah Government College established in 1996 is the lone institute of
higher education in Changlang district. The college is located some 13 kms away
from Changlang town along Trans–Manmao road at a scenic foothill known as
Longbusung which was generously donated by kindhearted villagers of Kengkhu.
The College is recognized by University Grant
Commission (UGC) under section 2(F) and 12 (B) of UGC Act 1956.This recognition
of UGC came in 2006 and the College received accreditation by NAAC with grade C
in 2008.

The foundation stone of the College was laid on May 16, 1995 by His
Excellency Mata Prasad, the then Governor of Arunachal Pradesh. In July 1996,
the College became functional temporarily at District Institute of Educational
Training (DIET), Changlang till February 1997. Later the College was shifted to
its permanent site at a 200 acres campus at Longbusung which was formally
inaugurated by the then Honourable Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Gegong
Apang on February 13, 1997.

In addition to the regular BA courses, the College proudly hosts the Study
Center (Center no. 0316) of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)
which offers both undergraduate and Post graduate courses. The College also
offers undergraduate courses in Distant Education under Rajiv Gandhi University
(RGU).
The dedicated College faculty members take the pain to give personal care and attention to the students. Remedial Classes and Mentorship of students classes the College to be the sole college in Arunachal Pradesh to implement these programmes successfully.

The College has both boys’ and girls’ hostels to accommodate all the
students (both APSTs and others). Rang–Frah Government College boasts to be the
only fully residential Government College in Arunachal Pradesh.
Apart from academic programmes, to encourage other co-curricular activities,
the College houses National Service Scheme (NSS) and Red Ribbon Club. The
college magazine named Endeavour-Zeal for perfection is published annually
where students and staff contribute their writings. A wall magazine by the same
name Endeavour-Zeal for perfection is also functional. First among all the
government colleges of Arunacahl Pradesh and first ever (this) newsletter of
the RFGC is an asset for the college. There is a mini stadium constructed by 52
Assam Rifles to encourage and nurture hidden talents in games and sports.
To better facilitate both the students and the staff members of the College,
facilities like Branch Post Office, Health Sub Center, Govt. Primary School,
PHED unit, small D.G set provided by the Electrical Department is very much
functional inside the campus.
